The house price and price change maps provide a summary of the local authority house price indices published by ONS and HM Land Registry for England & Wales. The data can be volatile when comparing single months so we have chosen to average the data over the latest three months to smooth out some of the volatility. Latest data covers the period July 2022 to September 2022.
The house price to earnings ratio map compares the ONS average house price in April 2022 and residence based mean full-time employee earnings in April 2022 published by ONS for local authorities. There are several constituencies with no earnings data. These have been displayed on the map with a ratio of -1. Earnings data in Northern Ireland is based on the average for the country.
The tenure data is based on the ONS Subnational estimates of dwellings by tenure for England.
The change in housing stock maps are based on tables 122 and 125 from DLUHC.
The median build period is calculated using VOA data and uses linear interpolation to estimate the median year for each local authority. Kensington & Chelsea, and Hammersmith & Fulham both state the median as 1900 though it could be much earlier than this given the lack of data.
The Green Belt map is based on DLUHC’s annual publication.
